NORLYS London 481WH outdoor wall lantern, white, hanging from an arm, E27, IP54

London 481WH is an outdoor wall light shaped as an English lantern hanging below an arm: a four-sided body with clear panes and a hipped roof hangs from a horizontal bracket supported by an ornamental brace. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated white (RAL 9003), and the panes are UV-stabilised polycarbonate.

How much wall space it takes

According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 42 cm tall and 20.5 cm wide, and it holds the lantern 33 cm out from the wall. The wall plate is 23 cm high and the lantern hangs below the arm — so when mounting above a door, allow the full 42 cm measured from the top edge of the plate. The fitting weighs 1.8 kg net.

Mounting and wiring

The plate is fixed through four ø5 mm holes spaced 25 × 140 mm apart. The EPDM cable gland takes a round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter and the terminals accept conductors up to 2.5 mm²; compare both figures with the cable coming out of the wall. The manufacturer also allows mounting on a building corner — that needs the corner bracket 152XX0009, bought separately.

Which bulb to fit

Inside is an E27 socket for an A55–A60 shaped bulb. No bulb is included; the manufacturer allows LED up to 9 W, and changing it needs no service visit. The panes are clear, so the bulb is visible and its shape shapes the lantern's look, while the colour and brightness of the light depend on the bulb you choose. The fitting has no dimmer of its own: dimming works only with a dimmable bulb and a suitable dimmer in the installation.

Outdoors all year

IP54 means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction, and the operating range of −20 to +45 °C covers winter and heat. It is protection class II, so no protective earth is needed. Damaged panes can be ordered as a spare part (service kit 0904800051).

The white lantern on an arm echoes classic English street lighting and looks right on a light-coloured facade, by the front door of a house, a hotel or a restaurant.
