Modena Big 3024BC is a single classic NORLYS lantern on a curved arm, designed to be mounted on a lighting pole. The hexagonal lantern with clear panes stands above the arm under a sloping roof with a slender spire, a turned finial closes it underneath, and the arm ends in a flat mounting plate. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated black with a copper patina.
What is in the box and how it mounts
This is the lantern head with its arm only – no pole and no part to bolt it to. According to the Norlys instructions, the arm plate is fixed to terminal art. 3040, which sits on top of a pole such as art. 3010. In the Modena Big 382 set the manufacturer joins two of these lanterns on one pole in this way, with the terminal and the pole as separate articles.
The terminals take conductors up to 4 × 2.5 mm², and the fitting can be looped through with the same cross-section – one supply cable then feeds the next fitting as well. The cable should have a round sheath of 7–12.5 mm diameter. The lantern ships in a 55 × 43 × 28.5 cm carton.
Which bulb and how much light
Inside is a single E27 lampholder for an A55–A60 bulb, LED up to 9 W. The bulb is not included and is changed by the user. An LED bulb of about 800 lm gives roughly the light of an old 60 W incandescent. The panes are clear, so the bulb stays visible and light leaves to the sides under the roof.
Build
IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, and protection class II is double insulation that needs no earth conductor. An EPDM gland seals the cable entry. Panes of UV-stabilised polycarbonate yellow more slowly in sunlight than ordinary plastic, and for a damaged diffuser the manufacturer supplies the 06380004 service kit.
The style is classic: the spire, finial and ornate curved arm recall old street lanterns, and the patina gives the metal an aged look. The lantern is intended for outdoor use in the garden.
