Norlys NIDAROS 2121BL Outdoor Ceiling Light Black LED 3000K IP65

NIDAROS 2121BL is an outdoor ceiling luminaire shaped as a cylinder of cast aluminium, painted matt black. A silver reflector sits inside the opening, and a clear safety-glass pane closes it from below.

How big it is and how it mounts

The cylinder is 12 cm across and stands 18 cm off the surface it is screwed to — a visible body, not a fitting that disappears into a soffit. Norlys makes the same family in 9 cm and 23 cm lengths, so several units side by side can be staggered in height.

It fixes through two holes to a horizontal surface: the ceiling of a porch, a roof soffit or the underside of a garden shelter. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter, with loop-through up to 1.5 mm² — several units can run on one line without a separate box at each.

How much light it gives

The luminaire puts out 754 lm in one direction, downwards, in a narrow 24° cone. Such a cone widens by roughly 42 cm per metre of distance, so from a ceiling 2.5 m up it makes a circle about a metre across on the ground — light that marks a threshold, a step or the spot by a door, rather than lifting a whole terrace.

The colour is 3000 K, warm white close to the old incandescent bulb, and a colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough outdoors. Power draw is 8.3 W. The luminaire can be dimmed with a trailing-edge phase dimmer.

What it withstands outdoors, and what can be repaired

An IP65 rating means fully dust-tight and resistant to water jetted from any direction, so the fitting can sit where rain reaches it. The body is cast aluminium and the cover is safety glass. The fitting is Class I and needs a protective earth conductor.

Both the LED module and the control gear are replaceable by professional service — a failed diode does not turn the luminaire into scrap the way a potted module does. The manufacturer quotes a 50,000 hour life, which at three hours a day works out at about 45 years. The light source is energy class D.
