MOLAT 1000823 is an outdoor ceiling light in anthracite-painted aluminium. Below the round ceiling canopy sits a short stem with a wide, flat brim, and under it a clear glass cylinder enclosing the bulb. The head is fixed and faces downwards.
Size and installation
The brim is 23 cm across and the light measures 26 cm from the ceiling to the bottom of the glass – under a porch roof or on a gazebo ceiling, the figure to compare with the headroom beneath it. It weighs 1.059 kg net and is fixed to the ceiling through the canopy with wall plugs and screws.
It is hard-wired to 230 V mains and, according to the manual, installed by a qualified electrician. The terminals take 0.75–2.5 mm² conductors and the supply cable should be 7–10 mm in diameter. This is a Class I luminaire and needs a protective earth connection.
Which bulb to choose
No bulb is included. The single E27 socket takes up to 60 W, but the manual limits the lamp to 14.5 cm long and 6.5 cm in diameter – a larger decorative globe will not fit inside the glass cylinder. The clear glass puts the bulb on show, so it sets the look of the light: SLV recommends an ST64 LED with a gold glass (2500 K, a very warm amber light) or a clear A60 at 2700 K, both 7.5 W and CRI 90.
Where it fits
IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, so it can hang outdoors, on a terrace or in a gazebo. IK02 (0.2 J) is a low impact rating, so it is best placed out of reach of balls or things being carried past. The MOLAT series also includes wall, pendant and bollard versions in the same finish.
