Outdoor Wall Light NORLYS Koster Pro 1830GR graphite LED 14.4 W 4000 K

Koster Pro 1830GR is a NORLYS outdoor wall light with a domed shade on a straight arm, cast in aluminium and powder-coated in graphite RAL 7016. A hermetic clear PMMA lens closes the 24.5 cm shade from below, and the built-in LED module gives neutral white light at 4000 K. The manufacturer also allows mounting on the corner of a building.

Size and wall mounting

The light is 24 cm high and projects 44 cm from the wall, and the round wall plate is 12 cm in diameter. Compare that projection with the width of the door, path or driveway it is meant to light. It is fixed through three ø7 mm holes at the spacing given in the enclosed instructions; other accessories are ordered separately.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², or up to 3 × 1.5 mm² when looping the supply on to further fittings. The cable needs a round sheath 7–10.5 mm in diameter. This is a Class I luminaire, so it must be connected to a protective earth. It weighs 2.86 kg.

Light directed down and sideways

The Philips Fortimo FastFlex module works behind a Ledil T2-L lens with an IESNA Type III distribution: light falls downwards and spreads widely along the wall and in front of it instead of forming a round pool under the lamp. The luminaire draws 14.4 W and delivers 2045 lm (142 lm/W) – more than twice what an old 60 W bulb gave. The BUG rating B1-U1-G1 means little light goes upwards or towards the eyes.

4000 K is a neutral white, clearly cooler than a traditional bulb, and CRI 70 is the colour rendering usual for area lighting. The luminaire is not dimmable: it runs on/off only and does not work with a dimmer.

Durability and service

IP45 protects the light against water jets, and the optical kit itself – the LED module with its lens – is sealed to IP67. The manufacturer specifies operation from −20 to +45 °C. The module keeps at least 90% of its luminous flux for more than 100,000 hours (L90B10), and the driver is rated for 100,000 hours. A professional service replaces the light source and driver using the service set ZS1830zx0009.
