RIOJA is a table lamp on a round black marble base, from which a slim metal tube in a satin gold finish rises. At the top the tube bends at a right angle into a short horizontal arm, and a white opal globe shade hangs from its end.

Size and footprint

The lamp is 51 cm tall. The marble base is 15 cm across, and together with the projecting arm the lamp takes up a footprint of about 22 × 15 cm – the figure to compare with the free space on a bedside table, chest of drawers or desk. The shade hangs beside the upright stem, above the base, rather than sitting on top of it.

Light source

The shade holds one E14 socket, and the manufacturer gives a maximum bulb wattage of 5 W. That is a limit for the bulb, not the lamp's consumption: an ordinary 25 or 40 W incandescent bulb does not belong here, while an E14 LED bulb of up to 5 W does. No bulb is included, so you choose the light colour yourself – for a table lamp 2700–3000 K is the usual choice, a warm, slightly yellowish light. The lamp runs on 230 V.

Materials and form

The manufacturer lists two materials, metal and marble: the stem, arm and shade holder are metal and the base is marble. The gold has a satin rather than a mirror finish. The form is modern and geometric – an upright, a horizontal arm and a sphere, with no ornament. The RIOJA range also includes a 140 cm floor lamp taking an E27 bulb.
