Sandvik 1730BG Outdoor Wall Light, Black with Green Patina, 2×GU10, IP65 NORLYS

The Sandvik 1730BG is an outdoor wall light shaped as a slim cuboid that shines up and down at the same time. The cast-aluminium body has a black finish with a green patina, and both light openings are closed with clear safety glass. The fitting is 21 cm high and 8 cm wide, and it stands 11 cm out from the wall.

Size and mounting

At 8 cm wide with an 11 cm projection, the light needs little wall space — compare these figures with the free strip beside the door frame or on the pillar you have in mind. It is fixed with two screws through ø4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 97.5 mm apart. For mounting on the corner of a building, the manufacturer offers corner bracket 148, sold separately.

The terminals take cable up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to be looped on to the next fitting with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm². Several lights along one wall can run from one supply line. The cable gland seals round cable with a diameter of 7–10.5 mm. This is a protection class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth conductor.

Light sources and light distribution

The body holds two GU10 sockets for PAR16 LED lamps of up to 4 W each. The lamps are not included; bought separately, they decide the colour and brightness of the light. The manufacturer recommends, among others, Osram LED Parathom PAR16 and Philips Master LED PAR16 up to 4 W. The user replaces them without a service technician.

The light distribution is two-sided: wide upwards and wide downwards. According to the manufacturer, half of the luminous flux (ULOR 50%) goes above the level of the fitting, so the light draws two bright fields on the façade — one above the fitting and one below it.

Outdoors, on an exposed wall

IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and resists water jets, so it can hang on a wall with no roof overhang. IK08 impact resistance protects the glass and body from accidental knocks, for example by an entrance. A silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland seal the interior.

The plain, unornamented form suits minimalist and Scandinavian architecture, and instead of uniform black the body carries a greenish patina. The manufacturer intends it for private grounds and public areas — a façade, an entrance or the garden-side wall.
