The Steinel GL 65 is an anthracite bollard light with an aluminium housing and a cylindrical opal-glass diffuser. Article 069469, EAN 4007841069469, is the version without a motion detector. It should not be confused with the similar GL 65 S: motion detection, sensor range and sensor timing settings are not features of this variant.
A fixed-height light beside the path
The fitting stands 77 cm high and has a base diameter of 18 cm. Compare these measurements with the available path width, paving edge and nearby planting before choosing its position. The height is fixed rather than adjustable. This is a screw-mounted surface fitting, not a portable lamp or a ground-spike light. Mounting accessories are included.
The manufacturer specifies gardens, entrances, courtyards and driveways as applications. Its IP44 rating supports outdoor use. Position the base outside pedestrian and vehicle routes, with room for nearby doors to open. This low bollard format is intended for the surroundings of paths rather than the role of a tall street-lighting column.
Warm light through opal glass
The integrated LED produces 575 lm while consuming 8.5 W. A colour temperature of 3000 K gives warm-white light, distributed through the opal-glass cylinder rather than an adjustable narrow spotlight beam. The pale diffuser above the dark, straight column gives the fitting a restrained appearance suited to modern and minimalist outdoor layouts.
No separate bulb is needed, but the built-in LED cannot be replaced. The light is not dimmable and must not be connected to a dimmer. For this non-sensor version, plan how its power supply will be switched instead of expecting it to turn on when someone approaches.
Connection and care
The GL 65 uses a 220–240 V supply and is a Class I electrical fitting. Its mains connection requires professional installation in accordance with applicable wiring rules. The manual specifies a damp cloth without detergent for cleaning, with electrical safety precautions observed. STEINEL states a three-year manufacturer's warranty.
