The Oluolu Shell Ball M is a Bazar Bizar decorative ball 11 cm in diameter, densely covered with natural shells over its entire surface. The shells are creamy white with light ochre markings and face outwards with their openings, which gives the ball a pronounced, scale-like texture.
Size and where to put it
At 11 cm across and about 0.4 kg, the ball fits on a bookshelf, a chest of drawers or a console table — which is exactly where the maker intends it, on its own or in a small arrangement. M is the middle size: the Oluolu series also includes S and L balls, which can be grouped as a trio of different sizes.
What it is made of
The ball is made in Indonesia from shells chosen for their tone and sheen. Because it is a natural material, each piece differs slightly from the photograph in the arrangement, colour and size of its shells.
How to look after it
Shells are delicate, so the maker advises handling the ball with care and dusting it with a soft, dry cloth. Moisture, high humidity and chemical or abrasive cleaners can cause cracking or surface damage, so the ball is for indoor use only — not for a steamy bathroom or a terrace.
