NUMINOS CL DALI S is a surface-mounted ceiling light shaped as a slim aluminium cylinder. The body has a matt white finish, and a matt black ring sits around the light source. The LED module and the driver are built in, so the light connects straight to 230 V mains and no separate driver has to be bought.

Size and mounting

The cylinder is 6.5 cm in diameter and 16.2 cm tall, and the light weighs 0.476 kg. It drops 16.2 cm from the ceiling, the figure to compare with the room height and whatever stands underneath. It is the smallest NUMINOS CL DALI size.

The manufacturer intends it only for surface mounting on a ceiling, in dry indoor rooms. It is a protection class I fitting, so it must be connected to the protective earth conductor.

How much light and what kind

The integrated LED module draws 7.8 W and delivers 1100 lm, clearly more than an old 60 W bulb (about 800 lm), at an efficacy of 141 lm/W. 4000 K is a neutral white with no yellow tint, and CRI 90 means colours look natural under this light. The 24° beam concentrates the light into a distinct pool below the fitting, so it picks out one spot rather than lighting the whole room evenly. UGR 16 means little glare for someone looking towards the fitting.

DALI control and servicing

The light dims over DALI (DALI-2 according to the manufacturer) and also supports the Touch function, meaning control from a push button. The control wires go to the DA terminals next to L, N and earth, so a pair of control cores has to be run to the fitting and connected to a DALI controller or system.

Only a professional may replace the light source and the driver, and the manufacturer states a service life of 50,000 hours. One B16A circuit breaker can supply up to 166 of these lights and a C16A up to 187, which matters when many points share one circuit.

Which interiors it suits

A plain cylinder with no ornament and the contrast of white against the black ring make a modern, minimalist form. The narrow beam works in a living room, corridor or hallway, and in a shop where the light should bring out one part of the space.
