Endon Nicola 68986 Pendant Light Copper Wire Cage Shade Ø30 cm E27

The Nicola 68986 is a pendant light with an open wire cage shade 30 cm across, plated in an antique copper finish. The shade is a flattened drum built from vertical rods, topped by a cylindrical lampholder, and the whole fitting hangs from a black flex.

How high to hang it

Endon gives an overall height of 35 to 130 cm. The flex is shortened during installation, so the drop is set once, before the fitting goes up. Over a dining table the bottom edge of the shade normally sits 70–80 cm above the top.

At 30 cm the shade is smaller than the 40 cm that suits a table 80–90 cm wide, so over a long table a row of two or three works better than a single pendant. The fitting weighs 1.1 kg, which a standard ceiling hook carries.

Which bulb to buy

The lampholder takes an E27 cap and Endon rates it for up to 10 W of LED. No bulb is included. The maker pairs it with a GLS-shaped LED filament lamp: the cage leaves the bulb fully exposed, and its light throws a striped pattern of rods and shadows across the walls and ceiling.

The cage is open, so it diffuses nothing — the light comes straight off the bulb, which matters where the pendant hangs at eye level. It can be dimmed, but that takes a dimmable lamp and a dimmer in the circuit; there is no control on the fitting itself.

Build and wiring

Shade, lampholder and ceiling rose are all metal, finished uniformly in antique copper against the black flex. The fitting is Class I, so the connection needs an earth conductor — worth checking in an older installation before ordering. Endon covers it with a two-year warranty.
