Stofledning is an electrical cable in a black textile braid, sold as a 4 m length. The fabric surface is matt with a distinct woven pattern, so the cable can stay on show — as a pendant drop or run across the ceiling from the junction box to a hook. The manufacturer intends it for, among other things, mounting light fittings.
The figures that decide the choice
The conductor cross-section is 0.75 mm², the usual size for light-fitting supply cables on a 230 V installation. The cable is Class II, meaning double-insulated. The manufacturer gives a maximum load of 2.25 kg: that is how much a lamp hanging from this cable may weigh, so compare it with the weight of the shade or fitting you plan to hang before buying.
Set the 4 m length against the distance from the ceiling box down to where the shade should hang, and add any stretch you will run across the ceiling. The cable weighs 0.18 kg.
What is in the box and where to use it
You get the 4 m cable on its own, with no light source. The lampholder, ceiling cup and other parts of the lamp are chosen separately. The cable is for indoor use only. The same cable is also made in white.
