ABALA is a floor lamp built from a single slim rod rising out of a round 25 cm base. Two spherical shades sit on that rod — on opposite sides and at different heights. That one move decides the whole silhouette: at 169.5 cm tall the lamp occupies the vertical, not the floor.
What the staggered shades do
The 13.4 cm globes light two points set apart vertically. The upper one falls roughly at the eye level of someone standing; the lower one sits well below it. Instead of one strong source overhead you get two gentle points spread over the full height — the light reaches the wall and the corner, not just the ceiling or the floor.
Colour and output
An integrated LED source is included, rated at a maximum of 16 W and 1860 lumens at 3000 K. Warm white at 3000 K is a deliberate choice here: it is the colour of evening light in a living room or bedroom, warmer than a neutral 4000 K. The lamp is not built for dimming — it runs at one brightness. The source is integrated, so when its life ends the whole fitting is replaced.
Materials and finish
The structure — base and rod — is aluminium in matte black; the shades are acrylic in a milky white that diffuses the light and hides the emitting point. The contrast of black against white is this lamp's only ornament; there is no further detail. IP20 protection confines it to dry interiors. The whole lamp weighs 1 kg, so it is the weight of the base that keeps it upright — place it where it will not be knocked.
Where to put it
The narrow base and vertical form suit places with no room to spare: beside a sofa or armchair, in the corner of a room, by a chest of drawers, next to a bed as light for reading and for the evening.
