Frosted diffuser 1004800 is a round polycarbonate optical insert for NUMINOS XL fittings. It is 7.1 cm across, 2 mm thick and weighs 9 grams. The disc is milky white over its whole face - that is what the frosted polycarbonate surface looks like.
What it changes about the light
A matt pane set in front of the light source scatters the output. The manufacturer describes the result as noticeably more diffuse and softer light: the edge of the light pool becomes less sharp, and the fitting glares less when you look straight into it.
What it belongs to
It is a part of the NUMINOS system, a modular downlight family in which the body, the reflector and the diffuser are chosen separately. This diffuser matches the XL size, so check the size marking on your own fitting before ordering.
The diffuser does not light up on its own and contains no electronics. Its IP20 rating describes protection against solid bodies larger than 12.5 mm in diameter, which confines it to indoor use.
