Ideal Lux REX-3 AP1 092430 outdoor wall light white E27 IP54 25 cm

The Ideal Lux REX-3 AP1 is a half-cylinder outdoor wall light with a die-cast aluminium body, powder-coated white. The front shield has two curved cut-outs, behind which a white acrylic diffuser shows. The light is 25 cm wide and 12 cm high, and projects 13 cm from the wall.

Where it can be fitted

IP54 means protection against dust and against splashing water from any direction, so the light can hang outdoors without a canopy — on a façade, on a balcony or on a garden wall. The manufacturer gives an operating range of -15 to +45 °C; the lower limit is worth comparing with winters where it will be installed.

The light is protection class I, so it needs an earth connection, and it runs directly from 220–240 V mains with no separate driver. The 13 cm it projects from the wall is worth allowing for beside a narrow path along the wall when choosing the mounting height.

Which bulb to use

The light has a single E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included — for this model the manufacturer recommends the Ideal Lux GOCCIA 9 W 4000 K LED bulb (code 151991), which gives neutral white. Colour and brightness therefore depend on the bulb you choose, within 60 W. The light is not dimmable.

The diffuser gives diffuse light that leaves through the cut-outs in the shield.

Build and colour options

The form is modern: a smooth half-cylinder with no decoration apart from the two curved cut-outs. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty. The REX-3 AP1 also comes in anthracite, grey, black and coffee, so it can be matched to window frames or the façade.
