Jenkins table lamp with cream shade - E27 - brushed brass Elstead

Quoizel Jenkins is a table lamp with an arched arm, from the end of which hangs a cream linen shade. The metalwork has a brushed brass finish, and a clear glass ball sits above the round, stepped base. The lamp comes from the American brand Quoizel, distributed in Europe by Elstead Lighting.

Size and placement

The lamp is 62.6 cm tall and the shade is 33.1 cm across — compare both figures with the desk, chest of drawers or side table it will stand on, and with any shelf above it. The shade hangs at the end of the arch, offset from the base, so the light falls on the surface beside the base rather than on the base itself. The lamp weighs 3.46 kg.

Light source and power

There is one E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W; the bulb is not included. The manufacturer recommends a classic clear E27 LED bulb in the A60 pear shape. The hard-backed linen shade lets part of the light through and diffuses it, while its open bottom sends the rest down onto the surface.

It runs from a wall socket on a cable with a plug, so no installation is needed. The manufacturer states compatibility with dimmable smart bulbs, in which case brightness is controlled from the bulb itself. It is a Class I appliance, so it needs an earthed socket.

Style and setting

The arched arm, glass ball and brushed brass set against a linen shade give it a classic look. Because the shade directs light onto the surface beside the base, the lamp works well on a desk in a home office. A polished nickel version is also available (QZ-JENKINS-TL-PN).
