JORELIA is a pendant built from two spheres hung one below the other: an upper one 25 cm across in glossy burgundy porcelain, and a lower one 18 cm across in opal glass. The pair hangs from a black cable ending in a black ceiling canopy.
How high to hang it
The fitting itself is 44.5 cm tall, and the total drop adjusts between 59 and 249 cm. The cable is 200 cm long and is shortened during installation, so the same pendant suits a kitchen worktop as well as a room with a high ceiling or a stairwell.
Over a table the bottom of the sphere usually sits 70-80 cm above the surface, which in a room of ordinary height means a drop of roughly 100-110 cm measured from the ceiling. The canopy is 12 cm across and 3 cm high, so it covers a standard junction box.
What light it gives
The source is a built-in LED module of 7 W producing 420 lm at 3000 K, which is warm white. 420 lm is the brightness of accent lighting: JORELIA marks a point of light over one particular spot rather than lighting a whole room, so in a larger interior it needs other fittings alongside it.
The module is supplied and cannot be changed — it is permanently built in, so its life is the life of the whole fitting. The manufacturer also states the pendant is not dimmable: the brightness cannot be altered with a wall dimmer or by choosing a different bulb, because there is no bulb here.
The light leaves through the bottom, via the opal sphere — the porcelain one above it is opaque and passes nothing. The output therefore falls downwards instead of spreading sideways and across the ceiling.
Build and series
The upper sphere is porcelain under a glossy glaze, the lower one opal glass, and a narrow metal ring joins them. The burgundy is deep and muted, closer to wine than to red, and the glaze carries a distinct highlight.
The pendant runs on a 230 V supply. JORELIA is the name of the series, in which the same two-sphere form also appears in other colour pairings.
