LED profile LUMINES type Gemi white lacquered 2 m

GEMI is a wide, recessed aluminium profile for LED strip, lacquered white. It is wide enough for two strips side by side, which gives one broader and more even line of light than a single-strip profile does. A section measures 2.02 m — the nominal "2 m" is 2020 mm, and the extra 20 mm is cutting allowance.

Dimensions and the groove it goes into

The profile is 35.2 mm across counting the flange, which rests on the board surface once the profile is sunk. The body alone is 27.2 mm — and that is the width of the groove that has to be milled. The inner channel is 20.7 mm, and the manufacturer allows for two strips of 10 mm each in it.

Compare those three figures before ordering the milling: the flange covers the edges of the groove, so the groove is meant to be narrower than the profile's visible outer width. The profile suits furniture board and plasterboard build-ups alike.

How it is fixed

The manufacturer gives two techniques: pressing it into the prepared groove, and double-sided tape. Sections cannot be joined into one continuous line — on a longer run a visible break stays at the junction, so the section length has to be planned around the actual piece of furniture or recess.

The driver does not fit inside the profile and has to sit outside it, so room for it belongs in the build-up. The profile is not drive-over rated, so it does not belong in a floor that is walked or driven on.

What has to be bought separately

The profile is sold bare: no strip, no cover, no end caps. The DOUBLE cover clips in from above and is a separate item — in PMMA and PC, in clear, frosted, milky, frosted-milky, opal and black, each of which passes light differently. The side end caps are also bought separately, in white, black, silver and grey.

Without a sealing kit the profile is rated IP20, so it is for dry interiors only; the manufacturer provides a separate kit that reaches IP68. The maximum strip power the profile will dissipate is 22.9 W at a profile temperature of 55 °C and 30.7 W at 65 °C — that is the ceiling to compare against the watts per metre of your chosen strip times its length.
