Lillehammer DC1584WH White NORLYS Outdoor Wall Sconce

Lillehammer DC1584WH is an outdoor wall light with a narrow, rectangular body cast in aluminium and powder-coated white to RAL 9003. It emits light on one side only, in a 4-degree beam directed downwards through an optical glass lens. This is the low-voltage version of the Lillehammer range: the LED module runs on 24 V DC.

Size and wall mounting

The fitting is 18.5 cm tall, 8 cm wide and projects 11 cm from the wall, so it sticks out further than it is wide. That projection is the figure to compare with the clearance left beside a door or along a stairway. The body weighs 1.57 kg.

It fixes on two Ø5 mm holes spaced 45 x 130 mm, following the installation manual supplied with it. The cable enters through an EPDM gland for round cable of 7-10.5 mm diameter, and a loop-through of up to 2 x 1.5 mm² lets a row of these run along a facade on one supply line instead of a feed per fitting.

The light it gives

Norlys publishes two flux figures: the LED module produces 532 lm and 16 lm leaves the luminaire. That follows from the optics - a 4-degree beam grazes the wall just below the fitting rather than lighting an area. The figure comparable with other luminaires is the 16 lm, at 377 cd.

At 3000 K the light is warm white, close to a traditional incandescent bulb, and Ra 80 is enough for architectural background lighting. ULOR is 0%, so not a single lumen goes upwards - hence the B0-U0-G0 BUG rating and the dark-sky friendly marking.

What you have to buy as well

The LED module runs on 24 V DC and the manufacturer requires an external voltage-stabilised power supply, which is not included. The fitting cannot be switched on without one, so it has to be costed in and given a place in the installation.

The module is suitable for dimming, but it is controlled on the supply side, according to the installation design - the fitting itself carries no control of its own. It works in protection class III, on safety extra-low voltage, and needs no earth connection.

Build and durability

Cast aluminium, a silicone gasket and an optical glass lens rather than a plastic one give IP65 sealing - proof against water jets from any direction and against dust - and IK08 impact resistance. The light source is replaceable, but only by a professional: Norlys publishes the ZS1584xx0A17 service kit, so in time the module is replaced rather than the whole luminaire.
