LINARES is a small ceiling light with a round, flattened shade of grey glass set on a black metal base that fixes to the ceiling. The surface of the shade carries a dense relief of small pyramids, and the lit bulb shows through the translucent glass.
Size and space on the ceiling
The fitting is 25 cm in diameter and 11 cm high. That is all it projects from the ceiling, so it takes no headroom even in a low passage. Compare the 25 cm diameter with the width of the hallway: in a narrow corridor the shade will not dominate the ceiling, while in a large room it will look small.
Bulb and light
The fitting has one E27 socket and comes without a bulb. The manufacturer gives a maximum lamp wattage of 12 W — a limit for the bulb, not the fitting's consumption. In practice that means an LED bulb, since a traditional 60 W bulb exceeds it several times over. An E27 LED bulb of about 800 lm gives the light of an old 60 W bulb, and you choose the colour: 2700–3000 K gives warm, yellowish light, 4000 K a neutral white.
The glass is tinted grey, and tinted glass lets through less light than clear glass. When choosing the bulb it is therefore better to pick a brighter one within the 12 W limit than the weakest.
Where it fits
The fitting is intended for a hallway, where its low profile and small diameter light the passage without anything hanging overhead. In the catalogue it is classed as modern: a plain, flattened body without ornament, where the only accents are the texture of the glass and the contrast between the grey shade and the black base.
