A lamp strung between floor and ceiling

VITICHI does not stand on a conventional stem. The structure is a thin vertical cable: a small black base 8 cm across and 5 cm high closes it at the bottom, a ceiling fixing at the top, and about halfway up sits a round white shade 35 cm in diameter. From the side you see essentially a line and a disc floating in the air — a light for rooms where lightness matters and no heavy body should stand on the floor.

Dimensions: check your ceiling height

The manufacturer's drawing breaks the total height of 370 cm into segments: 5 cm of base, roughly 150 cm of cable up to the shade, 10 cm of shade, and another 150 cm of cable above it. The shade therefore sits at about the eye level of a standing adult, with the rest running to the ceiling. This is a fitting designed for tall rooms — under a standard 250 cm ceiling the upper section has to be adjusted, so check the installation manual for the adjustment range the manufacturer allows before buying.

Reflected light, invisible source

The shade is a shallow bowl open at the bottom. A lit ring runs around its inner edge and the centre is a mirrored plate the light bounces off. The result: from the side and from above you see no diodes, only a bright ring and a soft glow beneath the shade. The built-in 21 W LED module gives 918 lm at a warm 3000 K — not a light to work by at a desk, but a mood and accent light: beside an armchair, in a corner of a living room, next to a staircase, or in an open-plan space where it should create atmosphere rather than flood it.

Dimming

The manufacturer specifies brightness control by TRIAC, that is with an external leading-edge dimmer — one is not included, and there is no switch on the cable. If the lamp is to give more than one level of light, the dimmer must be chosen separately and the circuit planned around it.

Material and build

The fitting is aluminium in white, with a black base and a black cable set deliberately against the pale shade. Aluminium does two jobs here: it stiffens the slender parts and carries heat away from the LED module, which this construction gives no larger housing to hide in. IP20 means dry interiors only. The set weighs 4.4 kg, most of it in the base, which is what steadies the whole thing.
