CALICE 7898 is a pendant lamp with a shallow, wide conical shade 47.5 cm across. The body is finished in matt, muted green RAL 6013 and the inside of the cone is light. A slim sleeve sits above the shade, with a black suspension cable and a cylindrical canopy above it.
How high to hang it
The drop adjusts between 50 and 180 cm — you grip the sleeve above the shade and slide it down or up, with no tools; the manufacturer shows the movement on a graphic of its own. Over a table the lower rim usually sits 70–80 cm above the top, and this range reaches that height under a 2.5 m ceiling as well as in a taller room.
A 47.5 cm shade keeps its proportion over a surface roughly 90–100 cm wide. The canopy measures 8 cm across and 11.5 cm high, so it covers a standard ceiling outlet box, and the suspension cable is 1.5 m long.
How much light it gives
The built-in LED module draws 16 W. The manufacturer states two flux figures: 1950 lm at the module itself and 1200 lm leaving the luminaire — the second number is what actually lights the table, and corresponds roughly to an old 75 W bulb. The shade directs all of that light downward, onto the surface below.
3000 K is warm white, slightly yellow, close to a traditional filament bulb. The lamp cannot be dimmed, so the brightness is fixed. The source is not replaced — the module is permanently built in, and the manufacturer states 30,000 hours of diode life and 30,000 switching cycles.
Construction and wiring
The manufacturer lists three materials: aluminium, acrylic and steel. The green carries the number RAL 6013 — a muted, slightly olive tone with a matt, non-glossy surface.
The lamp is protection class II, so it needs no earth conductor — a live and a neutral at the ceiling point are enough. The LED module carries a five-year manufacturer warranty.
Where it works
The light is directed downward, so CALICE lights one surface rather than a whole room: its place is over a dining table or over a kitchen island. Mantra's own setting shows three of these hung in a row over a longer worktop.
The form is modern and minimal — a smooth cone with no ornament, a single matt surface and the thin cable as the only visible suspension.
