Focus C018CL-01B is a recessed ceiling light with a black aluminium cylinder 60 mm in diameter and 130 mm long, mounted on a short arm below a round cover plate. The cylinder tilts, so the light goes where it is needed, and a metal ring at the opening holds the bulb and hides the inside of the fitting.

Installation and dimensions

A 50 mm hole is cut in the ceiling, and the housing needs 30 mm of depth above it. It is held by two spring clips, and from below a 65 mm cover plate hides the opening. The overall height is 192 mm, with the arm and cylinder hanging below the ceiling – compare that figure with the room height where it will be fitted.

The fitting is protection class II, so it is connected with two conductors, live and neutral, without an earth – as the manufacturer's instructions show. Supply is 220–240 V, and it weighs 0.32 kg.

Light source and direction

It takes one GU10 bulb of up to 10 W, so colour temperature, brightness and beam angle are chosen with the bulb. According to the manufacturer the fitting is not dimmable. The bulb goes in from below once the ring at the cylinder opening is unscrewed.

The cylinder tilts by about 80°, so instead of a pool of light beneath the fitting it can light a wall, a picture or a shelf. Maytoni intends the Focus series for accent and zonal lighting; several fittings in a row give light aimed at chosen spots rather than even lighting across the whole ceiling.

Construction and interiors

The body, arm and cover plate are black aluminium. IP20 means the fitting is intended for dry rooms. The plain cylindrical form without ornament suits modern interiors, and it is intended for the living room, bedroom and dining room as well as hotels and restaurants. The same model is also made in white. Maytoni gives a 5-year warranty.
