Modena Big 381BC is an outdoor wall light shaped as a classic six-sided lantern hanging beneath a wall arm, which is supported from below by a decorative brace. A slender spire tops the lantern roof and a turned finial closes it underneath. The body, cast aluminium with a powder-coated finish, is black with a copper patina.
How big it is and how it mounts
The light is 70 cm tall and holds the lantern 47 cm away from the wall, while the mounting plate is 23 cm high. Compare these figures with the space next to your door: a fitting that projects almost half a metre needs clear room that an open door leaf or a downpipe will not reach into.
The plate is fixed through four ø5 mm holes spaced 25 × 140 mm apart. The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the cable gland takes a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. For mounting on the corner of a building Norlys offers corner bracket 152, sold separately.
Which light source it takes
The fitting has an E27 socket for an A55–A60 shaped bulb, LED up to 9 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself – an LED bulb of about 800 lm gives as much light as an old 60 W incandescent. The panes are clear and the bulb shows through them, so its shape is part of how the lantern looks. The user changes the bulb without calling a service technician.
Outdoor use
The IP54 rating means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the light can hang on an exposed facade without a canopy. Protection class II means double insulation – the fitting needs no protective earth conductor. The panes are clear UV-stabilised polycarbonate, and a damaged diffuser can be ordered as service kit 06380004.
A lantern on a curved arm is a classic form intended for the facade – to light an entrance, a terrace or a garden path.
