Nordlux Griffin 2218131047 E27 outdoor wall light – black with smoked shade

Nordlux Griffin 2218131047 is an outdoor wall light with an open rectangular frame surrounding a cylindrical smoked plastic shade. Its powder-coated aluminium structure is black, specified as RAL 9005: the smoked designation refers to the shade rather than a tinted metal finish. Designed by Says Who, the light leaves the bulb visible within a clearly defined geometric outline.

Check the space beside the mounting position

The fitting measures 23.2 cm high and 13 cm wide, with a projection of 15.6 cm from the wall. When planning a position beside an entrance or on a terrace wall, compare that projection with the available clearance, not just the width of the backplate. The open frame extends in front of the mounting surface.

A 10 cm diameter shade sits inside the frame. Straight profiles and the absence of decorative scrollwork make this a considered choice for modern, minimalist and Scandinavian exterior schemes. Its outline remains part of the appearance when the bulb is switched off, rather than relying entirely on the illuminated effect.

Choose the bulb and controls separately

Griffin has one E27 socket and accepts a bulb rated at no more than 15 W. No light source is supplied. Brightness and colour temperature therefore depend on the bulb you purchase; the warm light shown in the photographs is not a fixed specification of the fitting. The smoked cover is part of the design, not an indication of a built-in LED module.

Dimming requires a dimmable bulb and compatible control equipment. It should not be read as a promise of an integrated dimmer. The fitting operates on 220–240 V and is Class I, requiring a protective earth connection. Nordlux also confirms that parallel connection is possible.

Outdoor placement, with a coastal limitation

The IP44 rating and the manufacturer's outdoor designation support use on exterior walls, including balconies and terraces. Protection against splashing water does not mean the light can be submerged. Nordlux specifically lists this variant as unsuitable for seaside locations, so its IP rating alone should not be used to select it for a coastal installation.
