Nordlux WESTPORT 120 DOUBLE is a sealed batten light in a grey plastic housing, 115.8 cm long with a 5.4 × 5.4 cm cross-section. It has an integrated 39 W LED module and gives neutral white light at 4000 K. The manufacturer intends it above all for garages, workshops and carports.
How much light it gives
A flux of 4400 lm is main lighting rather than mood lighting – one fitting is enough to light the strip beneath it evenly. 4000 K is neutral, with no yellow cast, and the 125° beam angle spreads the light widely instead of concentrating it in one spot. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is the standard for functional lighting.
The fitting is not dimmable and runs from an ordinary switch. The LED module is built in and non-replaceable: the manufacturer quotes a lifetime of 25,000 hours, after which the whole fitting is replaced rather than a light source.
Sealing and toughness
IP65 means no dust gets inside and the fitting withstands a jet of water from any direction – which is why it suits a garage, a workshop and a bathroom. Impact resistance IK08 means the housing survives a 5 J impact, which matters wherever planks, ladders or tools are carried about. The manufacturer classes the fitting as an indoor luminaire.
Installation and wiring
According to the instructions the fitting clips onto two brackets screwed 400 mm apart into holes drilled with a 6 mm bit. Screws are not included, so they have to be chosen to suit the surface. The supply enters through a cable gland for round cable 7–10 mm in diameter with 1.0–2.5 mm² cores, such as H05RN-F.
It is a class II fitting with double insulation, so only live and neutral are connected, with no earth conductor. It cannot be looped through to further fittings – with several of them, each needs its own supply. It weighs 0.465 kg.
