Norlys Moss 6167GB LED spike spotlight, grey-beige, 8.4 W, 3000 K, dimmable

Moss 6167GB is a grey-beige LED spike spotlight: a cylindrical head with clear safety glass sits on a curved bracket, and below it is a spike that is pushed into the ground. The body is an aluminium casting powder-coated grey-beige (RAL 7006).

Size and placing it in the garden

The spotlight is 27 cm tall overall; about 11 cm of that – the head and bracket – stays above ground and the rest is the spike. The head is 8.5 cm in diameter and 6.5 cm deep, so it is hardly noticeable between low plants in a border. The beam can also be tilted vertically, so the same fitting can be aimed up into a tree crown or at an angle onto a house wall.

Because the spike is simply pushed into the soil, the light can be moved when plants grow or the bed is replanned – within the reach of its cable. The whole fitting weighs 0.56 kg.

How much light and what kind

The integrated 8 W LED module produces 840 lm, and 687 lm leaves the complete fitting at a consumption of 8.4 W. A colour temperature of 3000 K is warm white, softer than neutral 4000 K light.

The beam is symmetrical with a 36° angle: according to the manufacturer's diagram the light spot is about 0.74 m across at 1 m and about 2.2 m at 3 m. This is light focused on one object, such as a shrub, a trunk or a section of wall, rather than on a whole lawn.

The spotlight can be dimmed with a phase dimmer, both trailing edge (TE) and leading edge (LE). The LED module is rated for 59,000 h (L70), and Norlys provides for its replacement only by a professional service.

Connection and durability

The fitting comes with a factory-attached 3 m H05RN-F 3G1 cable, which is connected to the mains in a suitable electrical junction box. The box is not included – Norlys offers the 145ZX0009 junction box for this fitting as a separate accessory. This is a Class I luminaire, so the protective earth conductor must be connected.

IP65 means the housing is dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, so the spotlight can stand in a lawn or flower bed without any cover. The housing has an impact rating of IK06.
