Outdoor wall light Norlys FREJA 1980BL black E27 IP44 with LED bulb 2100K

The Freja 1980 is an outdoor wall light shaped as a slim, rectangular lantern: a black frame of powder-coated steel (RAL 9005) with clear safety-glass panes, through which a decorative filament bulb is visible. The manufacturer calls the design classic and simple, while the plain steel frame and exposed filament also give it an industrial, loft character.

Size and mounting

The light is 36 cm tall and 8.6 cm wide and projects 8.5 cm from the wall, so it fits a narrow strip of wall beside a door or the post of a porch roof. It weighs 2.45 kg. It fixes through two ø4.2 mm holes at 42 × 317 mm centres; the second figure is the vertical distance to measure out on the wall. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the gland a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter.

Bulb included, and what light it gives

The box contains a decorative LED lamp with an E27 base, shaped as a slim tube (T30, 225 mm long) with a smoked glass envelope. It draws 2.2 W, shines at 2100 K and gives 50 lm, while the complete fitting emits 41 lm at 2.5 W. 2100 K is a very warm, amber light, warmer than a traditional incandescent bulb. 41 lm is decorative and orientation lighting: the lantern marks the entrance and lights up the wall, but it will not replace a light for a driveway or a whole terrace. About 31% of the light goes upwards, the rest downwards and to the sides.

The E27 base means you can replace the light source yourself when needed.

Sealing and connection

IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, so the light can hang on an outside wall by the entrance, on a terrace or in a gazebo, which is where the manufacturer intends it. It is protection class I and must be connected to the protective earth conductor. The gasket is silicone, and the cable gland is weather-resistant EPDM rubber.
