Sandvik 1732GR is an outdoor wall light shaped as an upright cuboid, cast in aluminium and powder-coated graphite, RAL 7016. Two built-in LED modules shine up and down at the same time through safety-glass panes in the top and bottom faces.
Size and wall mounting
According to the manufacturer's drawing the light is 21 cm high and 8 cm wide, and it projects 11 cm from the wall. It weighs 1.45 kg. The slim body fits on a pillar, beside a door frame or on the wall between two windows — compare the 8 cm width with your own facade.
It is screwed on through two ø4.5 mm holes spaced 37 × 97.5 mm. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the supply can be looped on to the next fitting with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm². The gland seals round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. This is a protection class I fitting, so the installation needs a protective earth. At switch-on it draws an inrush current of 70 mA for 60 ms — a figure for the installer sizing the breaker for a longer run of lights. For a building corner there is corner bracket 148, sold separately.
What light it gives
The two 8 W modules draw 16 W together and give 3000 K, a warm white. The modules produce 1512 lm and the whole fitting delivers 1126 lm after losses in the glass — clearly more than an old 60 W bulb, enough to light an entrance, not just mark it. The 36° beams draw two strips on the wall, up and down. The colour rendering index is CRI 80.
The light dims with an ordinary phase dimmer, trailing edge or leading edge. The source is not swapped like a bulb: the LED module is replaced by a professional service, and the manufacturer states an L70 lifetime above 59,000 hours.
Where it can work
IP65 means a dust-tight housing that withstands water jets, so the light can hang without a canopy, and IK08 stands for increased impact resistance. The manufacturer gives an operating range from −20 to +45 °C. Half of the light goes upwards (ULOR 50%), so Sandvik is meant for lighting the facade of a hotel, restaurant or house, not places where light should not reach the sky. The plain, smooth body suits modern and modernist architecture.
