Paul Neuhaus Q-Swing pendant lamp 2385-13 brass 1xLED, height adjustable

Q-SWING 2385-13 is a Paul Neuhaus pendant from the Q Smart Home Lights range. A matt brass ribbon twists along the whole length of the fitting with a white diffuser running inside it, carried on a straight anthracite rail that hangs from two thin cables under a rectangular canopy.

The suspension height can be adjusted within a range of 60–120 cm. This lets you match the position of the light to the ceiling height and the surface below it.

How big it is and where to hang it

The fitting is 121 cm long and 18 cm wide, with a maximum drop of 120 cm. That length suits a table for six or a longer kitchen island — over a coffee table the rail would overhang the top.

The cables are shortened during installation, usually so that the lower edge of the ribbon sits 70–80 cm above the table top. The fitting weighs 1.8 kg and is fixed to the ceiling through the rectangular canopy.

How much light it actually gives

The maker publishes two lumen figures, worth telling apart. The LED module itself is rated 3100 lm, but 1350 lm leaves the diffuser — and that is the figure to plan a room's lighting around. It is roughly what two old 60 W bulbs gave, so it is main light over a table rather than lighting for a whole living room.

The whole fitting draws 28 W, of which 24 W goes to the LED board. The light source is built in and no lamp has to be bought. The board is listed in the maker's catalogue as a spare part, so after some years a technician changes it instead of the whole luminaire.

Colour temperature and control

Colour temperature is adjustable across 2700–5000 K, from warm white to cool — warmer for a meal, cooler for working at the table. An infrared remote is supplied and handles both dimming and the colour change; the fitting remembers its last setting even after the power has been cut.

The lamp belongs to the Q system and works with Alexa and ZigBee. Control from a phone does require a third-party ZigBee gateway, though — the remote itself works with no setup at all.

Finish and where it can go

The body is metal in two tones: matt brass on the ribbon, anthracite on the rail and the canopy. That pairing stays visible with the light off. The fitting is safety class II, so no protective earth is needed, and IP20 restricts it to dry rooms.
