Endon Lessina Touch 70600 is a 57 cm table lamp: a clear glass tube on a nickel-plated foot, carrying a vintage white fabric drum shade 35 cm across.

The touch dimmer and the lamp it needs

The dimmer is built into the fitting and works by touch — three brightness steps are stepped through by tapping the metalwork, with no dimmer in the wall and no remote. For it to work the lamp has to be described as dimmable; an ordinary non-dimmable one will flicker or ignore the steps.

The fitting takes one E27 lamp of up to 10 W in LED, and none is in the box, so colour and brightness are yours to choose. The fabric shade is closed at the top, which is why the 10 W ceiling should not be exceeded — the heat has no way out above.

How big it is and where it goes

At 57 cm tall, standing on a 75 cm side table it puts the top of the shade about 130 cm above the floor, roughly the eye level of someone sitting beside it — from an armchair the lamp inside is then out of sight. A shade 35 cm across wants a surface with room left beside it.

The lamp weighs 1.5 kg and its flex is 1.5 m long and ends in a plug, so no wiring is involved — a socket within a metre and a half of where it stands is enough. The flex is braided in the same vintage white fabric.

Construction

The base is colourless glass with the internal structural member visible through it; the metalwork is finished in bright nickel. The maker gives a two-year warranty, and class II means the lamp needs no earth connection. IP20 confines it to dry interiors.
