RETRATO WL is a chrome picture light: a rectangular wall base, an arm with two joints running out of it, and a bar with built-in LEDs at its end. The body is made of aluminium and steel.
Size and mounting
The light bar, the longest part of the fitting, measures 30 cm — a figure worth comparing with the width of the picture it will hang above. The manufacturer also gives 20.1 cm height and 5.2 cm width, and the net weight is 0.538 kg, so no special anchoring is needed.
The fitting is made for surface mounting on an indoor wall. Two joints, one at the base and one at the bar, let the bar swing away from the wall and set the angle at which light falls on the surface below. It is a protection class I luminaire, so an earth conductor has to be available in the box.
The light it gives
The built-in LEDs deliver 750 lumens at 11 W of power draw and a colour temperature of 3000 K, a warm white close to a traditional incandescent bulb. A colour rendering index of Ra 90 means colours appear under this light almost as they do in daylight — when a painting or an exhibit is being lit, that is the value which decides whether shades come out distorted.
SLV states that the LED light carries no UV and no appreciable heat radiation, which matters on surfaces sensitive to light and warmth. The maximum ambient temperature in operation is 35 °C.
Light source and dimming
The LEDs are fixed in place and cannot be replaced — the manufacturer quotes 30 000 hours to the L70B50 criterion, meaning the fitting keeps at least 70% of its initial output over that time. No bulb has to be bought.
The LED driver is built into the fitting, so it connects straight to 230 V. The light can be dimmed, but it needs a trailing-edge phase dimmer — not supplied, and chosen separately.
