Bridgepoint is a small Kichler wall lantern, distributed by Elstead Lighting, with a round globe of clear seeded glass held in a metal cage. The aluminium body has a natural brass finish, and the lantern hangs from a ring hooked onto a scrolled arm – a shape taken from old ship and railway lanterns.
Size and mounting on the facade
The lantern is 33.4 cm tall and 17.8 cm wide, and projects 20.7 cm from the wall. On the wall it needs room for a square back plate about 12 cm across – that is the figure to compare with the space between a door frame and a downpipe or the corner of the building. It weighs 0.81 kg.
The IP44 rating protects it against splashing water from any direction, and the maker specifies it for exterior installation. It is a class I fitting, so it has to be connected to the protective earth conductor. Where there is no flat wall, for example on a building corner, the maker offers corner brackets sold separately (C-BKT2-BROWN, C-BKT2-BLACK, C-BKT5-BLACK).
Light source
Inside is a single E27 lampholder for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included, so you choose brightness and light colour yourself: 2700–3000 K gives warm, slightly yellow light close to a traditional bulb. The glass is clear, so the bulb stays visible. With a dimmer in the circuit, the fitting works with dimmable bulbs.
Finish and the Bridge Point series
Natural brass here is the colour of the finish on aluminium, not solid brass. Aluminium does not rust the way steel does, which matters on a fitting exposed to rain. The lantern is intended for building facades – a house, but also a hotel or restaurant. The Bridge Point series also includes wall lanterns in other sizes and a chain-hung lantern, as well as versions in a Weathered Zinc finish, so several fittings can be matched on one facade.
