CADILAC 8190 is a Nowodvorski floor lamp with a wide, shallow grey fabric shade on three slender legs of black painted steel. A light-coloured diffuser closes the underside of the shade, with three E27 lampholders above it. The lamp is made in Poland.
Dimensions and placement
The lamp is 154 cm tall and the shade is 50 cm across and 15 cm deep, so the shade sits above the head of someone seated in an armchair beside it. The tripod legs spread to 53 cm β that is the floor space to leave next to an armchair or sofa. It weighs 2.3 kg, so it is easy to move.
Bulbs and light
CADILAC has three E27 lampholders. No bulbs are included, and the manufacturer allows LED lamps only, at up to 25 W each β with a fabric shade that is a limit to keep to. Three ordinary LED bulbs of about 800 lm, the equivalent of an old 60 W bulb, give roughly 2400 lm in total, enough for the lamp to serve as the main light in a smaller room.
The lamp has an in-line switch on the cable and a plug for an ordinary socket. It is a class II fitting, so it does not need an earthed socket. It is for indoor use only.
Where it works
The wide shade spreads light sideways and downwards, which makes the lamp a good fit beside a sofa in the living room, next to an armchair in a bedroom or study, and in a dining room as extra light beside the table. It also suits hotel rooms and restaurants. The form is modern: a plain fabric drum on a simple, slim tripod with no ornament.
