CAMELEON CANOPY B 780 (article 8561) is a long, black ceiling canopy in painted steel from which several CAMELEON system lights hang at once. It gives no light of its own: it distributes power to the pendant cables, which leave through its underside.
Size and mounting
The canopy is 78 cm long, 8 cm wide and 3 cm high, so it forms a flat bar under the ceiling. Compare its length with the table or kitchen island the lights will hang above.
It screws directly to the ceiling with 2β4 screws. The box contains only the canopy and the instructions, so choose screws and wall plugs to suit your ceiling. The manufacturer requires the connection to be made by a qualified electrician. It is a Class I fitting, so the wiring must include a protective earth. It weighs 1.45 kg.
How many lights, and what wattage
Up to 12 CAMELEON lights can be connected, each of up to 25 W and with an LED lamp only. The manufacturer states that the canopy works only with CAMELEON pendant cables and shades β lights from other ranges are not connected to it.
It can be fed by a single circuit, in which case all the lights switch together, or by two circuits, with the lights split into groups of 8 and 4. The second option needs two live conductors at the ceiling and a two-gang switch, so it has to be decided before the wiring is run.

A complete CAMELEON pendant consists of a shade, a pendant cable ending in a lampholder, a ceiling canopy and mounting accessories. This item is the canopy alone: pendant cables, shades and LED bulbs are ordered separately. The range also includes CANOPY B in white and beige, and a longer 150 cm version.
