Maybeck is a floor lamp by Quoizel, distributed by Elstead Lighting, with a Tiffany-style shade. The conical shade is built from narrow strips of art glass in white, blue and amber with dark red accents, and its lower edge is cut in steps. The slim column and the square, stepped base on four feet have a Valiant Bronze finish — a dark bronze with a reddish tone.
Size and placement
The lamp is 157.8 cm tall and the shade 43.2 cm in diameter — the width you need to keep clear at shade height, for example between an armchair and the wall or beside a bookcase. Two pull chains for the switches hang below the shade.
The lamp runs from a plug: it needs no installation or wall box, just a socket within reach of the cable. It is intended for interiors and is a Class I appliance, so the socket should be earthed.
Bulbs and light
There are two E27 holders, each for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulbs are included, so you need to buy two; 60 W is the limit per holder, not what the lamp draws. The fitting works with dimmable lamps if you connect it through a dimmer designed for them.
The coloured art glass lets light through in the colours of its strips, so the lamp gives atmospheric, tinted light around itself rather than bright light for the whole room.
Glass and construction
The body combines steel with resin, and the shade is made of pieced art glass. The maker notes that the glass colours in Tiffany-style lamps vary from piece to piece and no two are identical, so the colours of the lamp you receive may differ slightly from the photos. Its listed uses include dining rooms.
