Ripple is a shade, not a complete lamp — the part you change when the existing shade on a base has tired or stopped suiting the room. It is a truncated cone: 25 cm across the bottom, 12.5 cm across the top, 18.5 cm tall.

The pleating it is named for

The surface is a gathered pleat running vertically all the way round — hence "ripple". The fabric is a digitally printed faux linen in pearl grey; the edges are taped and the inside carries a plain lining. The effect is distinctly handmade: the pleat catches light at varying angles, so the shade is never a flat grey but a rhythm of light and shadow.

Fitting: a fixed gimbal

This is the detail that matters most when buying a shade. Ripple has a fixed gimbal in white — a metal yoke that rests directly on the lampholder, rather than a ring that drops over the socket or a clip that grips the bulb. Check what your base takes before ordering; a gimbal will not fit a lamp designed for a shade that screws onto the holder.

What it suits

Endon points this shade at table lights above all — 25 cm at the base is proportionate to a typical table lamp and too small for a floor lamp. Pearl grey is neutral and does not impose: it sits as easily with brass and timber as with black or chrome.

The bulb

The shade works with E27 or B22 caps, up to 10 W in LED. No bulb is supplied. Because the lining is pale and plain, the light comes down fairly broadly — for reading choose a higher-output lamp; for atmosphere a decorative filament is enough.
