Quill is a round wall mirror 62 cm across, with its mirror plate surrounded by a radiating wreath of metal feathers. The frame has an aged gold finish — the photos show darker worn patches and the line of each quill on the feathers rather than a smooth, even shine. The whole mirror is only 1.5 cm deep.
How big it is and where it hangs
The outer diameter is 62 cm, of which the feather wreath takes up 17 cm on each side. The mirror plate itself is therefore about 28 cm across: it reflects a face rather than a full figure, and most of the surface is frame rather than glass. Before buying, compare the 62 cm with the width of wall above the chest of drawers, console or fireplace where the mirror is to hang.
At 1.5 cm deep, the mirror sits almost flat against the wall and does not project into a walkway.
Hanging
The mirror weighs 1.35 kg. It hangs on the wall from a keyhole slot on the back of the frame: the screw head passes through the wide part of the slot and the mirror is lowered until it rests in the narrow part. There is no visible wire or hanger, and the frame sits against the wall.
What it is made of
The frame is iron and the plate is mirror glass with a bevelled edge. The bevel is the angled rim of the glass running all the way round — it catches the light at a different angle from the rest of the mirror and outlines it with a thin, brighter line where it meets the frame.
The maker describes the design as contemporary. The feathers radiate from the centre, so on the wall the mirror reads as a sunburst: what counts is the outline of the frame, which shows best against a plain, single-colour wall.
