Gea Luce GFA094 adjustable recessed spotlight brushed copper GU10 Ø9.3 cm

The GFA094 is a round Gea Luce recessed spotlight measuring 9.3 cm across the outer ring, built in aluminium with a brushed copper finish. The inner ring holding the lampholder tilts, so the beam can be aimed once the fitting is in place. It takes a single GU10 lamp.

The opening to cut and the space needed above the ceiling

The manufacturer's dimension drawing gives a 7.9 cm mounting hole against a 9.3 cm outer ring. The trim therefore laps about 7 mm onto the ceiling all round: enough to hide the edge left by a hole saw, not enough to cover an opening cut for a larger fitting.

The fitting stands 8 cm tall overall and, apart from the thin ring, sits above the board. That much clear space has to be left in a suspended ceiling or behind plasterboard, together with room for the cable running to the lampholder. It weighs 0.10 kg and is held by two spring clips that open out above the board.

Choosing the lamp

The spotlight takes one GU10 lamp of up to 35 W. That figure is the ceiling for the lamp rather than the fitting's own draw: brightness and colour come with the lamp you fit, because the manufacturer's sheet states neither luminous flux nor colour temperature.

Living rooms and bedrooms are usually lit at 2700–3000 K, a warm, slightly yellow light; over a kitchen worktop 4000 K neutral white tends to work better. The tilting ring lets the lamp swing off vertical, so the same fitting can light the floor beneath it or graze a wall, a picture or a cabinet front.

Supply and where it can go

The fitting runs directly on 230 V mains and is class I, which means a protective earth conductor has to reach the box. On older two-core wiring that is worth checking before you buy.

The manufacturer specifies indoor installation only. Gea Luce builds the same body in brushed aluminium and matt black as well, so several spots in one ceiling can be matched to the ceiling colour or to the hardware in the room.
