EGIDA 1603 is a three-arm chandelier in chrome-plated steel with three grey fabric shades in a fine pattern. It hangs from a chain and a chrome column, and clear decorative teardrop pendants hang from the ends of the curved arms and from beneath the body.
Size and where to hang it
The arms with their shades span 74 cm — a diameter worth comparing with the width of your table or the free space under the lamp. The overall height of the fitting is 80 cm. With a 75 cm dining table and the bottom of the lamp 70–80 cm above the tabletop, that means a room roughly 2.25–2.35 m high.
The chandelier weighs 2.2 kg and the manufacturer intends it for indoor use only. Jupiter gives a 5-year warranty on this fitting.
Bulbs and light
Each of the three arms has an E27 socket and no bulbs are included — you need to buy three. The manufacturer allows a maximum of 15 W per socket. Such a low limit rules out traditional incandescent and halogen bulbs, which are not made with an E27 cap at that low a wattage, so in practice this fitting takes LED bulbs.
You set the colour and brightness through your choice of bulbs: over a dining table or in a living room 2700–3000 K is the usual choice, a warm, slightly yellow light. The fabric shades diffuse the light, so the bare point of the bulb is not visible.
Style and intended use
The manufacturer describes the EGIDA style as classic, and the form shows it: symmetrical curved arms, a column on a chain, drum shades and decorative pendants. Shiny chrome and grey fabric make a light, muted combination. The fitting is intended for over a dining table and for the living room.
