HLG-320H-12 is a 264 W MEAN WELL LED driver in a sealed, finned aluminium housing with input and output leads already fitted. It delivers a fixed 12 V at up to 22 A and works in two modes: constant voltage and constant current.
What it will run
264 W is the load ceiling, not what the driver always draws. To check whether it is enough, divide that figure by the watts per metre your tape's maker states, and leave headroom, because a driver held at full load runs hotter. In constant-current mode the voltage window is 6 to 12 V, so it can also feed current-driven LED modules.
This is the version with no adjustment and no dimming
The model with no letter at the end has its output voltage and current fixed — there is no potentiometer and no control input. If the installation has to dim, the version you need is HLG-320H-12B with its 1–10 V, PWM and resistance input; if the output has to be trimmed with a screwdriver, it is HLG-320H-12A, which however carries the lower IP65 rating.
Where to mount it
The housing measures 252 × 90 × 43.8 mm and carries two side brackets with mounting holes. IP67 means it is fully dust-tight and survives brief immersion, so the driver can be run outdoors as well. Cooling is by convection with no fan, and the manufacturer allows a case temperature of −40 to +90 °C. The metal housing is Class I, so an earth conductor has to be connected.
Supply and service life
The input accepts 90–305 V AC at 47–63 Hz, so it runs on a 230 V supply with a wide margin for fluctuation. Efficiency for the 12 V version is 91 %, and active power factor correction keeps PF at 0.95 or better at 230 V. Protection covers short circuit, overload, overvoltage and overheating. The manufacturer states a life above 62,000 hours at a case temperature of about 75 °C or less and gives a seven-year warranty. Under the ErP rules the driver has to sit behind a switch rather than being permanently connected to the mains.
