The VT-79ST is a 70 W, 7500-lumen street light made for a lamp-post bracket or a wall. The cast aluminium body is 470 mm long and weighs 1.49 kg — equipment for access roads, car parks, yards and driveways, not for an ornamental garden.
The adjustable bracket
The luminaire sits on a knuckle bracket with a flange plate, and the tilt of the head locks with a bolt. It is the only adjustment on this fitting and also the most important one: with a 100° beam and a peak intensity of 4160 cd, it is precisely the setting of that knuckle that decides whether the light lands on the road surface or in a neighbour's windows.
What it actually gives per watt
7500 lumens at 70 W is 107 lm/W — a figure worked out from the data V-TAC itself filed in the EU EPREL registry under number 1220485. It is worth knowing, because in the trade this luminaire is sometimes described as "120 lm/W"; the figure 120 describes the class of the diodes, not the finished luminaire, where the driver and the optics still have to be accounted for. The energy efficiency class is E on the current A–G scale.
Colour and colour rendering
6500 K is a cold, distinctly bluish white — the usual choice for road lighting, where what counts is contrast and legibility rather than atmosphere. Colour rendering is CRI 70, and the separately declared red index R9 is negative (−12): reds lose their saturation under this light and turn brownish. For a road luminaire that is normal, but it is worth remembering if it is to light a façade or anywhere colour matters.
If you are buying several
The declared colour consistency is SDCM 6. In practice that means two units from the same batch can emit a noticeably different shade of white — on a single post nobody will spot it, but in a row along a driveway the differences can show. Lumen maintenance at the end of the declared life is 0.96, so the fitting loses about 4% of its brightness.
Installation and durability
IP65 means complete protection against dust and resistance to water jets from any direction — the luminaire works outdoors all year. The connection is three-core with a protective earth, so installation is an electrician's job. The fitting does not work with a dimmer and has neither a motion nor a dusk sensor; it runs on/off and draws no current when switched off. The manufacturer declares over 15,000 switching cycles and gives a 5-year warranty.
