BATALLAS LE44790 is a ceiling light 60 cm across and only 7 cm deep, in white, with a built-in LED module of 48 W / 3361 lm and two features most fittings in this class lack: a DIP-switch for light colour and TRIAC dimming.

The light colour is set on the fitting

This is the model's defining feature. A DIP-switch on the luminaire selects the colour temperature across the 2700–4000 K range. The decision is therefore made after installation, looking at the finished room – not at ordering time from a catalogue photograph.

That solves a real problem. Light colour is the hardest parameter to judge from a description: the same 3000 K reads differently against a white ceiling than in a room with a dark floor and timber. Here you can set 2700 K in a bedroom, 3000 K in a living room and 4000 K in a kitchen – buying the same product – and change your mind later when the décor changes.

TRIAC dimming

Independently of colour, the fitting dims on a TRIAC dimmer – the classic, widely available wall dimmer, with no control system to build. The dimmer must be rated for LED load; older models intended for incandescent lamps can flicker at low settings.

Combining the two functions makes practical sense: the DIP-switch is set once, at installation, while the dimmer is used every day.

3361 lumens across 60 centimetres

An output of 3361 lm at 48 W (about 70 lm/W) makes this the main light source for a room of up to 30–35 m². The 60 cm diameter spreads that output over a large luminous surface, so the light is soft and casts no hard shadows – unlike several point fittings of the same total power.

At 3361 lumens the dimmer earns its keep: full output is often too much in a small room, and the ability to drop to 30–40% makes the same fitting usable in the evening.

Seven centimetres deep

At 60 cm across, the fitting stands only 7 cm proud. That matters in rooms with low ceilings and in corridors, where every centimetre below the ceiling is noticed. The flat body reads as part of the ceiling rather than as a lamp beneath it.

The construction is aluminium and acrylic: the aluminium body carries heat away from the module (at 48 W that matters for longevity), and the acrylic diffuser spreads the light across the whole surface.

Installation and use

IP20 places the fitting in dry interiors – living room, bedroom, hallway, office. In a bathroom it suits only positions outside the protection zones, well away from bath and shower.

The light source is permanently built in: no lamps to buy and no choice to get wrong, but equally no way to replace the module later – its life is the life of the fitting. When mounting on a plasterboard ceiling, check the load capacity of the fixing point: 60 cm across is a large body, flat though it is.
