Erich MOD221-WL-01-G is a Maytoni sconce from the Erich series: a blown white glass globe held in a brass frame on a round 10 cm base. One E14 socket up to 40 W.

A pearl in a metal setting

Maytoni describes this series with an image that captures how it works: the blown white shades resemble luminous pearls set in a matt metal frame. The glass is opal rather than clear, so the filament stays hidden and the whole globe glows evenly across its surface. The brass frame does not enclose the shade but embraces it — so light also escapes sideways and upwards, and the sconce gives a soft wash rather than one directed pool. This is a fitting for atmosphere and gentle fill, not for reading small print.

Brass, not copper

The finish on this item is **brass** — a warm, golden tone of metal, marked by the letter **G** at the end of the article code. Maytoni also makes the same fitting in nickel as MOD221-WL-01-N, cooler and more subdued. Choosing between them is a colour decision: brass plays with timber, warm whites and green, nickel with greys, concrete and black joinery. The frame is metal and matt, without a gloss that would mirror the room.

Compact projection and a round base

The sconce is 27 cm tall, 15 cm wide and stands 19 cm off the wall — little enough not to obstruct a narrow corridor or a bedside, and enough that the shade clears the wall and can light all round. The base is round, 10 cm across, so it covers a standard flush box. The construction works in **protection class I** and requires an earth conductor; supply is 220-240 V at 50 Hz. Net weight is a mere 0.7 kg.

Light source and limits

The E14 socket takes a bulb of **up to 40 W**; no bulb is included. With an opal shade the bulb's shape is visually irrelevant, so the choice can rest purely on colour and output — for a bedroom a warm white around 2700 K works well. The fitting is **not dimmable**: Maytoni states this outright, so it should not go on a dimmer circuit even with a dimmable bulb. IP20 assigns the sconce to dry rooms. The manufacturer covers it with a **five-year warranty**.
