Nordlux Blokhus Up 25011031 outdoor wall light, galvanised steel, E27

Nordlux Blokhus Up 25011031 is an outdoor wall light made from galvanised steel and clear glass. Its lamp head sits above a short wall arm, with a broad metal roof and horizontal rings around the visible bulb. A round wall plate completes the traditional lantern form with exposed, industrial-looking details.

Allowing for the projection from the wall

The fitting is 23 cm high, with a 22 cm shade diameter and a projection of 25 cm. Compare that projection with the space beside doors, shutters or narrow passages: room for the wall plate alone does not establish clearance for the whole light. This Up version has its shade above the arm, distinguishing it from the downward-facing member of the family.

Nordlux specifies entrances, driveways and terraces as installation locations. The wall-mounted format also suits balcony lighting. Its roof and metal rings remain a visible feature during daylight, making it a choice for a recognisable traditional fitting with metallic construction details rather than a flush, discreet lighting point.

Choosing a bulb and preparing the connection

There is one E27 socket for a bulb rated at no more than 60 W. The bulb is not included. Clear glass leaves its shape visible, so the bulb envelope contributes to the finished appearance. Brightness and colour temperature depend on the selected light source rather than the galvanised finish.

Dimming requires a dimmable bulb and compatible control equipment. The fitting is intended for a permanent 230 V mains connection and requires a protective earth connection as a Class I light. Parallel connection is supported. The mounting instructions also state that mounting screws are not included.

Galvanised steel outdoors and at the coast

The IP54 rating and Designed For Seaside designation establish outdoor use, including coastal locations. Nordlux notes that the galvanised surface develops a darker patina over time. Its 15-year guarantee covers corrosion that produces holes in the metal, subject to the manufacturer's terms; it does not give every component of the light the same blanket cover.
