Nordlux GROA is a black table lamp built from an open arrangement of wooden slats. Its shade and base form a continuous sculptural outline, with the bulb visible through the gaps. This is variant 2213155003, made using Pinus radiata pine wood.
The bulb is part of the design
A single E27 socket takes a bulb rated at no more than 40 W. No bulb is supplied, so brightness, light colour and the appearance of the light source depend on your separate choice. Nordlux also suggests a decorative bulb. Unlike a lamp with an opaque fabric shade, GROA leaves that choice on show even when switched off.
Light can spread sideways through the spaces between the slats, while the wooden structure creates a pattern of light and shadow. This makes the lamp an option for decorative lighting in a living room or bedroom, or as an accent on a table in a hotel or restaurant. An open shade should not be confused with a directional task lamp: the illumination at a particular spot depends on the bulb and where the lamp stands.
Check the space around the shade
GROA stands 40 cm tall, with a 26 cm shade diameter and a 19 cm base diameter. Before placing it on a side table, chest of drawers or shelf, compare the available space with the full shade width rather than just the footprint. On shelving, check the clearance above the lamp as well.
The black cable is 150 cm long, with its switch on the cable. Choose a position that allows the cable to reach the socket while keeping the switch accessible. The fitting cannot be dimmed.
A wooden structure to assemble
The lamp is supplied for self-assembly. Its instructions show the slats joining the supporting rings, followed by fitting the socket and the separately purchased bulb. The black finish and repeated slat pattern suit modern and Scandinavian interiors where an exposed structure is preferable to a closed shade. Nordlux confirms FSC-certified material. GROA is intended for indoor use, not as a garden light.
