Nordlux Luxembourg Outdoor Wall Light Copper E27 IP54 Clear Glass

Luxembourg is an outdoor wall light in solid copper, shaped as a lantern on a swan-neck arm. A curved bracket runs out from a round wall plate and carries a flat conical shade, with a clear glass cylinder below it enclosing the bulb.

How far it stands off the wall and how it is fitted

The projection is 42 cm — the key figure on this fitting, because the lantern reaches well past the face of the wall. Compare it with the width of the walkway along the wall and with how close to a door or gate the light is meant to hang. The shade is 27.5 cm across, the whole fitting stands 27 cm high and weighs 1.036 kg.

It is a class II fitting, double insulated, so no earth conductor is needed. The manufacturer has built in a parallel connection, which lets several lanterns run off one circuit along a façade or a driveway without a separate box at each one.

What bulb you have to buy

The E27 holder takes one lamp of up to 60 W. The bulb is not supplied and the glass is colourless, so the lamp is fully visible — the shape of the envelope and the look of the filament are part of the lantern's appearance here, not only a question of brightness.

The fitting can be dimmed, but that needs a bulb described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit; the lantern itself holds no control electronics. Around an entrance or on a façade 2700–3000 K is the usual pick, that is warm light with a yellowish cast.

Copper, patina and weather resistance

The body is solid copper, left unlacquered. The bright mirror finish of the first weeks therefore darkens over time and a patina forms on the surface — the look of the fitting changes with exposure, and that is a property of bare metal rather than a fault.

An IP54 rating covers dust and splashing water from any direction, so the lantern belongs where rain reaches it. The manufacturer gives fifteen years of guarantee against corrosion of the surface and places this lantern in its range built for coastal weather. It is intended for an entrance, a driveway, a garage and a terrace.
