Norlys GRIMSTAD 1547CS is a recessed wall luminaire designed for steps, stairways, corridors and other outdoor circulation areas. The CS variant has a corten-steel colour finish, while horizontal shutters sit in front of the milky lens and direct diffused light downwards. Once installed, the rectangular face remains a clear architectural detail, but the body projects far less than a conventional surface-mounted exterior wall light.
Replaceable E14 lamp and downward light
The fitting accepts one replaceable E14 lamp. Norlys permits a conventional source up to 46 W or an LED source up to 7 W; no lamp is supplied. This allows the colour temperature and output to be selected for the route being illuminated, within the stated wattage limit. Milky safety glass diffuses the light and the shuttered front reduces a direct view of the source. The manufacturer defines the effect as hemispherical, diffuse light directed downwards, making the fitting particularly suitable for orientation at steps and along pedestrian routes.
Durable construction for outdoor use
The housing is made from powder-coated cast aluminium. A silicone gasket and an EPDM cable gland support the sealed construction. IP65 provides protection against dust and water jets, while IK09 indicates strong resistance to mechanical impact. The luminaire is a Class I product for a 220–240 V supply. Its declared ambient operating range is −20 to +45°C. Net weight is 1.5 kg and gross weight is 1.7 kg.
Dimensions and recess preparation
The front measures 27.1 cm wide by 12.6 cm high, and the luminaire is 11 cm deep. For installation in a solid wall, Norlys specifies an opening of 258 × 112 × 115 mm. A layered wall requires an opening of 235 × 96 × 82 mm. The terminals accept conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², with loop-through wiring up to 3 × 1.5 mm². A round cable with a diameter of 7–10.5 mm must be used. Correct cable entry and sealing are essential to retain the stated IP65 protection after installation.
