NORLYS London 497BL outdoor wall lantern, black RAL 9005, E27, IP54

NORLYS London 497BL is a black outdoor wall lantern with transparent sides and a shaped roof above a tapering frame. Its cast-aluminium body is powder coated in RAL 9005. The clear enclosure is made from UV-stabilised polycarbonate rather than glass, a material distinction worth checking when comparing similar-looking lanterns.

A wall lantern with a defined footprint

This is a wall-mounted fitting, not a freestanding garden post. It measures 39 cm high, 26 cm wide and 16 cm deep. Compare that outline with the intended wall section, the width of a pillar and the space beside a doorway. The depth is the projection from the mounting surface, so nearby doors or shutters also need clearance when opened.

The manufacturer identifies gardens, terraces and architectural lighting schemes as intended uses. The mounting format allows placement on a façade beside a terrace or entrance. Its traditional lantern outline and black frame support a classic, English-inspired setting. The bulb remains visible through the clear sides, making the appearance of the selected lamp part of the overall design.

Choose the light with a replaceable E27 bulb

London 497BL has one E27 socket for an A55–A60 LED bulb rated at no more than 11 W. Select the light source separately. Colour temperature and luminous flux therefore depend on that bulb, rather than being fixed characteristics of the fitting. The transparent enclosure does not conceal the source as an opaque shade would.

The manufacturer permits end-user replacement of the bulb. If dimming is required, both the bulb and the installation's control equipment must be compatible. An E27 socket alone does not establish dimming capability or make every LED bulb dimmable.

Mounting and outdoor operating limits

The fitting is supplied with a mounting box. Documentation specifies a 220–240 V supply, protection class II and an IP54 rating. Its operating temperature range is −20 to +45°C. Electrical connections, cable entry and sealing must follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. Plan the supply route and mounting-box position alongside the visible lantern dimensions, rather than choosing the location from the front view alone.
