NORLYS London Big 494BL pedestal lantern, black, E27, 64 cm, IP54

The NORLYS London Big 494BL is a black outdoor pedestal lantern with a broad pyramidal roof, clear enclosure and short, shaped base. Its powder-coated cast aluminium body is finished in RAL 9005, with a UV-stabilised polycarbonate cover. The tapered lantern frame and stepped foot give it a traditional, English-style appearance rather than the form of a tall pole-mounted street lantern.

Allowing space above a wall or plinth

The fitting stands 64 cm high and measures 30 × 30 cm at its widest point. Compare these dimensions with the width of the intended wall or platform and the clearance beside any passage. When mounted on a gate pier, its height is added to the height of that pier; the lantern itself has no height adjustment.

The manufacturer specifies fixing to the ground surface, a wall top, a platform or another structure. This provides mounting options beside garden routes, on terraces and on masonry fence elements. Its shaped base and frame narrowing towards the bottom suit classical exterior schemes, including retro and vintage settings.

A visible, replaceable E27 light source

One E27 socket accepts an LED bulb rated at no more than 11 W. The bulb is purchased separately. The installation instructions specify a maximum bulb length of 110 mm, so check the dimensions of your chosen lamp as well as its cap and wattage.

The bulb remains visible through the clear enclosure. Its appearance, colour temperature and brightness therefore contribute to the result after dark; the fitting does not prescribe a single light colour. Dimming requires a suitable dimmable bulb and compatible control equipment, rather than being a function guaranteed by the E27 socket alone.

Preparing the fixing and cable connection

The IP54 rating supports outdoor installation but does not permit immersion. There are two fixing holes, each 5.5 mm in diameter, spaced 90 mm apart. The connection accommodates round cable with an outside diameter of 7–10.5 mm and allows loop-through wiring as specified in the manufacturer's instructions. Concrete anchor 307 is a separately sold accessory; include it in the installation plan only where the chosen supporting construction requires it.
